Your textbook has you study these operations, use them to solve simple equations, and then apply your solving skills to real problems. The downloadable exercises and tutorials found on this site support your practice of these operations with whole numbers.

Extra Practice exercises are downloadable pages of additional practice exercises. Print out these worksheets, work through the exercises, then check your work against the answer page.

Chapter Opener
InterAct Math tutorials provide you with online practice problems and guided solutions.

Once you've practiced and mastered the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, think about how you can apply your skill to real data. Refer back to the first page of Chapter 1 in your Basic Mathematics textbook and review the total bicycle sales application. The National Sporting Goods Association supplied the annual dollar figures of bicycle sales, but how many bicycles were actually sold?

Here's your chance to explore the World Wide Web and practice your new skills at the same time. Follow some related bicycling Web sites that might reveal the answer of how many bicycles were sold from 1992 through 1995. Or, you might find out the total cost of repairing that old bike sitting in your garage!

After you've practiced and after you've explored, don't forget about your upcoming Chapter Test.

By now you know all about Operations on the Whole Numbers, but practice makes perfect. Prepare for your exam by working through our Chapter 1 Review, and then check your answers. These free downloadable files are accessible by selecting the Chapter Review button at the top of this page.

Good luck!
